Using Genomics

DNA detectives

The scene of the crime: your kitchen. Time: 8:30 PM. Clue: a hair. Who stole the last cookie? It was you, wasn't it? Admit it! Your DNA doesn't lie.

The variations in the genetic composition of living things help people resolve all kinds of mysteries. Detectives use DNA to identify criminals, anthropologists use it to understand human migration across the centuries, botanists use it to establish the differences between various species of plants, and conservationists use it to try to preserve endangered species.
