Alternate
Placement of leaves, branches, etc, that is, by turns, on one side of a stem and then the other, and no two are at the same level.

Appendage at the base of the leaf.

Small openings on the surface of leaves that let air and water-vapour in and out (in other words, to breathe and transpire).
